Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you?

Nerja Tapas Tours is a small and totally independent company.

It was created to help bring our own love of Tapas, and Spanish culture and traditions to a wider audience.

We will do everything we can to ensure that when someone chooses to spend their time and money on one of our tours, we provide them with the experience they both expect and deserve.

Our Respect Policy

We have a policy of absolute zero tolerance towards inappropriate behaviour of any kind, including bad or offensive language and intoxication.

Anyone treating other guests or our guides disrespectfully will be asked to leave the Tour immediately.

What currency can I use for payment?

We currently support payments made in the following currencies: EURGBPUSDAUD, CADCHFCNY, DKK, ISK, KRW, JPY, KZT, NOK, NZD and SEK.

If you need to pay in any other currency, please drop us a note using the blue box on the bottom right hand corner of the screen and we will change our set up to allow you to pay using your own own chosen currency.  We are happy to add any currency at any time.

All payments are made through Stripe's secure payment gateway.

What about Changes, Cancellations and Refunds?

Can I change the Tour date?. You can change the date until 48 hours before the tour starts.  Simply contact us with you alternative date and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Can I cancel the Tour? You can cancel for any reason at all and receive a full refund up to 48 hours before the tour starts.  Send us an email, or use the Contact Us tab at the bottom right of every web page to cancel.  If this is 48 hours or more prior to the start of the tour we will process your refund immediately - no questions asked.  The payment will be returned to the card that you initially used when booking. We are unable to give refunds after the 48 hour point.

What if you cancel the Tour? We will always strive to ensure that the Tour takes place.  We are aware however that our Guides are only human and there may be occasions when we have no alternative other than to cancel. We promise to give you the maximum notice possible if this happens.  We will also immediately refund all money taken in full.  The payment will be returned to the card that you used when booking.

How many people will be on the tour?

There will be a maximum of 8 on the Group Tours.  There are a couple of reasons for this.  We want each tour to be a personal experience and having too many people on the tour will take away from this.  The streets and bars can get busy at times and our guides need to spend the available time interacting with our guests rather than using it to round people up!

If you have a larger group, wishing to book a private tour, we would be delighted to discuss whatever you have in mind.   Just drop us a note and we'll get back to you.

Are there any age restrictions?

Group tours are open to children aged 12 and above.

Private tours have no age restrictions.

What do I get for my money?

On the Tapas Tours you will receive five drinks (small beer, a house wine, or soft drink) and tapas, whilst visiting up to 5 bars. There will also be extra food provided at no cost to yourselves - including local specialities, raciones of fresh local fish, meat dishes, or vegetarian options.  No one will leave the tour hungry.

The Frigiliana Tours will also include the cost of transport to and from the villages if you have selected this.  It is a short 10 minute journey each way to both villages.

Please note that the Wine and Tapas tour includes 5 beautiful wines.

Should I book the Tour for the start of my holiday?

Of course you should!

You'll then have the rest of your holiday to re-visit these bars and discover new ones that our Guides will tell you about.

Can I buy extra food and drink for my family and friends?

If you wish to buy drinks other than those provided, you are free to do so, but you must bear the cost.

If you require extra food, speak to the guide, we will accommodate this wherever possible.  But, to answer the question directly, yes, you can buy extra food yourself if you wish.

How long will the Tour last?

In Nerja we will start our evening tours at 7pm and aim to finish at around 10pm.

The Frigiliana tours where you have requested transport will start at 7pm in Nerja.  These tours involves a short 10 minute journey up to the village and back to Nerja at the end.  These tours will arrive back in central Nerja at around 10.15pm.  Transport is included in the price.

Frigiliana tours where you have not selected transport from Nerja will start and end in Frigiliana.

The end point of all tours will be somewhere central, so there's no need to worry about how you get back to your apartment or hotel.  Our guide will give advice on any directions needed.

Can I choose what to eat?

Most tapas bars offer a range of available food - fish, meat, cheese and vegetable dishes.  In these bars you will be able to choose what you would like.  Now and again a bar will not offer a choice but instead provide their own specialities with a drink.
If you have any special dietary requirements, let us know within the Comments Box of the Shopping Basket page when purchasing your tour, or send us information in a separate email.  We will always try to fulfil your wishes.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Luckily Andalucía has a fantastic climate - all tours will go ahead rain or shine.

What sort of bars do we visit on the Tour?

All sorts really - we visit small local bars and larger bars that are also visited by Spanish locals.  All the bars provide great food and a unique atmosphere.  Sometimes we will visit restaurants that have a bar for tapas lovers.

We do not limit ourselves to the same bars each evening, so each tour is basically a one off.  The guides will use their judgement to select the bars that suit the group best.

By the end of the evening you will have visited places that you most probably would not have found on your own.

Do I need to be physically fit? How much walking is there?

Each tour will involve walking between bars and comfortable shoes are recommended.

Frigiliana is quite hilly and you'll need to be reasonably active if you select this tour.

If you suffer from any disability that could affect your ability to get between the bars, please contact us and we'll do our best to help

Who are you Guides? Do they expect tips?

The most important thing on a tour apart from our guests is the guide.  We work with the friendliest, most passionate and lovely people.  Our guides not only know and love Spain, but will put you at ease with their friendliness and knowledge.

If you wish to give the guide a tip for the service provided, you are more than welcome to do this.
